COVID-19 - Non-invasive monitoring - Clinical update

Published: Apr 09, 2020

On 26 March 2020 The Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSANZ) recommended the following changes regarding non-invasive monitoring in an effort to reduce the risk of potential transmission of infection to our patients and healthcare team:

• Requests for these tests will be triaged by our cardiologists and a category of urgency will be assigned based on patient safety

• For requests deemed urgent – patients will receive access to ambulatory monitoring without delay

• For requests that are able to be delayed – SA Heart will liaise with the referring doctor and patient to explain why monitoring cannot be completed at this time

In light of these changes, our cardiologists feel that the majority of BP monitoring can safely be postponed until after the pandemic restrictions have been lifted.

SA Heart are committed to providing quality cardiac care and our cardiologists are available to provide support and advice to our referring doctors particularly should a patient’s condition deteriorate and clinical urgency change.

To ensure the safety of our patients, doctors and healthcare team, we have implemented stringent precautions across all of our clinics.
