COVID-19 - Safety measures

Published: Aug 05, 2021
SA Heart is aware that many of our patients are at higher risk of severe complications of COVID-19 and we are committed to providing ongoing essential care during this global pandemic. Our doctors continue to offer Telehealth consultations for those who are unable to attend in person.

We ask that you DO NOT attend if you are unwell, even if you have been vaccinated for COVID-19.

SA Heart would like to reassure all of our patients that we continue to follow stringent safety precautions across all SA Heart clinics:

  • It is mandatory for ALL patients and staff to wear masks while in our clinics. If you do not have an approved mask, one will be provided for you on arrival.
  • Implementation of Telehealth consultations for appointments where appropriate
  • Patients who attend in person are encouraged to attend by themselves wherever possible, unless they require a support person for mobility or interpretation assistance
  • If patients do require a support person, that person must be in good health and not showing any signs of respiratory illness and must abide by all entry protocols.
    • NB: If you are attending for a TOE (Transoesophageal echo) it is essential for you to bring a family member or support person with you on the day of your procedure
  • Bio-shields in place at reception desks at all clinics
  • Adherence to all social distancing directives including the distancing of our waiting room chairs
  • Restricting the number of patients and staff at each clinic according to current Government directives
  • All patients are screened regarding travel and health status via phone prior to their appointment and again on arrival at the clinic
  • All examination couches are covered with a disposable towel and are wiped down with alcohol between patients
  • Hand sanitiser is readily available at all sites
  • No cash transactions. We ask that patients settle their account via Credit Card/EFTPOS & cheque only at this time. Patients will be informed of this at the time of booking.
  • Pre-screening and limitation of all external contractors and visitors across all sites
  • The removal of all reading material & refreshments at all sites
  • Pens & clipboards at all sites are disinfected after each use
