Dr Gao Jing Ong MBChB, FRACP is a clinical cardiologist who will be joining SA Heart in February 2019. He is happy to see patients with the full spectrum of adult cardiology issues and has a particular interest in ischaemic heart disease and heart failure.
Having graduated from the University of Otago, New Zealand in 2010, Gao Jing moved to Adelaide where he undertook his advanced training in Cardiology at the Queen Elizabeth and Royal Adelaide Hospitals. He was admitted to the Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians in 2018.
Gao Jing also has a special interest in clinical pharmacology and is currently completing his advanced training in the area as a second subspecialty. He holds positions in the Royal Adelaide Hospital Drugs and Therapeutics Committee, as well as the South Australian Electronic Medication Management Committee. Gao Jing is passionate about improving patient care through the safe and effective use of medicines. With his vast knowledge in both specialties he is able to provide a holistic approach to patient care.
When Gao Jing is not seeing patients, he continues to expand his knowledge in cardiology by keeping up to date with the latest medical research. He is currently in the final stages of his PhD which focuses on ‘the natural history, pathogenesis and the treatment of Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy’.
Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his family and indulging in his hobbies such as photography as well as playing a variety of sports including golf.
Originally from Penang, Malaysia, Gao Jing is fluent in English, Malay and Mandarin as well as Hokkien (a Chinese dialect). He will be consulting regularly at our Morphett Vale and Ashford rooms.
