Dr Kashif B Khokhar BSc MBBS MRCP FRACP is a cardiologist and electrophysiologist. His expertise is in heart rhythm, hypertension and cardiac device management and has recently joined the team at SA Heart.
During his time with the team at Centre for Heart Rhythm Disorders, Royal Adelaide Hospital University of Adelaide, Kashif completed training in complex pacing including CRT and management of heart rhythm disorders involving 3D mapping. Kashif has experience in the management and intervention for a broad range of patients presenting with cardiac arrhythmias including brady-arrhythmia, supra-ventricular tachycardia, atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia
Kashif keeps himself updated with emerging technologies in pacing and arrhythmia management. He is passionate about research and is a co-investigator of multiple prospective trials. His research focus is to study the impact of central high blood pressure and conduit arterial stiffness on development of atrial fibrillation. For his research, he has been awarded funding from prestigious sources including New Zealand Heart Foundation (NZHF) and Asia Pacific Heart Rhythm Society (APHRS).
Kashif undertook his basic physician training at Liverpool Hospital UK followed by advanced training in cardiology at South Manchester University Hospital, Wythenshawe UK before relocating to New Zealand. Kashif went on to complete this training at Waikato Hospital, Hamilton and subsequently his clinical fellowship in pacing and electrophysiology.
Kashif has authored a range of peer-reviewed local and international cardiology journals in his areas of interest. He is an active member of Heart Rhythm Society (HRS), Cardiac Society of Australia & NZ (CSANZ), European Cardiac Society (ESC) and APHRS and presents regularly in their annual meetings.
During his spare time, Kashif enjoys playing cricket and spending time with his young family. Kashif is fluent in Urdu, Punjabi and Hindi. He will be consulting regularly at our Ashford, Morphett Vale and Victor Harbor clinics.
